Install

Put the evlat command on your PATH, from Settings or by hand.

From Settings

Open Evlat’s Settings → This Mac and, at the bottom under Command line, set up the evlat command. Evlat links ~/.local/bin/evlat to the app itself, so the command is always the same version as the app and updates with it.

Evlat never replaces a file at that path that isn’t its own. If the link points at another copy of Evlat, or at something no longer there, Settings asks before replacing it.

Put ~/.local/bin on your PATH

If Settings says ~/.local/bin is not on your shell’s PATH, add it once:

echo 'export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshrc

Then open a new terminal and check:

evlat --help

By hand

The link is all there is. If Evlat is in /Applications:

mkdir -p ~/.local/bin
ln -sf /Applications/Evlat.app/Contents/MacOS/Evlat ~/.local/bin/evlat

The same binary opens the bar when it is called Evlat, and is the command when it is called evlat through the link.

Remove

rm ~/.local/bin/evlat

On a server, Settings → Servers removes the command for you, and the key file an older version left. See Remote servers.
