evlat mascot

Check a mascot's folder as Settings reads it, and draw its states.

evlat mascot check

Reads a mascot’s folder the way Settings → Mascot → Look does, and prints every rule it breaks. For whoever makes a mascot, you or an agent: the answer without opening Evlat.

evlat mascot check FOLDER [--preview FILE.png]
$ evlat mascot check ~/.config/evlat/mascots/hap --preview /tmp/hap.png
ok: “Hap” reads and keeps every rule.
It shows in Settings → Mascot → Look (evlat:hap).
preview: /tmp/hap.png

A folder outside the ones Settings reads is checked all the same, and told where to go. One that breaks rules lists them all:

$ evlat mascot check hap
“hap” breaks 2 rules, so Settings leaves it out:
  - review does not enter on the shared spring
  - review rests tilted

A file that doesn’t read says where it stopped, in the decoder’s own words:

not a mascot: character.json can't be read at root.children.2.shape
  …

--preview

Draws the mascot’s five states at rest, a blink and a look each way, large and at the bar’s 34-point size, into a PNG. It is drawn off screen; no window opens. It is drawn whenever the folder reads, rules broken or not, so you can see what you are fixing.

CodeMeans
0Settings would offer this mascot.
1It wouldn’t: no such folder, a file that doesn’t read, or a rule broken.
2A wrong call; the usage is printed.
